Year in Review
I am coming close to the end of my third year in UC. A lot has happened. Too much for me to fit in just 300-500 words. I have gone through the hardest of times this year, but I have also grown the most this past year. The experiences I have had, both good and bad, has made me who I am today. I have learned how to be stronger, how to take care of myself, how to put myself first, and how to be patient with myself.
In this past year, I have done my third co-op rotation in the same company, SABIC. I was reunited with some of my best friends on co-op, however, most of them have already graduated, and so I had to deal with being the most senior co-op. Instead of me looking for help, it was so many new co-ops looking for help from me. I definitely learned a lot in this co-op rotation, and made some of the most amazing relationships with the people I worked with. This year, I also made the difficult decision to leave this company that gave so much to me. As an international student, it is extremely difficult to find a co-op, but SABIC saw something in me. And they have given me some of the most amazing experiences. However, after fighting so hard, I got the sad news that that they won't be able to hire me after graduation because I am not a citizen... I have also come to terms with how I have really gained as much experience as I could with SABIC and it was time to move on. And so, I made the decision to leave for a completely new and exciting industry and will be joining Teva Pharmaceuticals this coming Fall, and I am more than excited for this new adventure.
On other news, I have gone through serious personal problems, and am still going through them now. But during difficult times like this, I realise what an amazing and broad support system I have. All the relationships I have built in UC, and outside of UC, has come to show during these hard times. All my friends in UC have really stepped up to show their support and love, and that is truly priceless. I will never stop being grateful for being a part of the UC community. Every year, I realise more and more about how much UC has truly given to me: whether it is in school, on co-op, on a study abroad, the resources the school offers to promote health and success or even the friendships I have fostered. I am so glad I am here.
In the coming years, I hope to learn more about how to take care of myself and to grow more and more as a person. I hope to leave college much stronger and wiser than when I came in. I hope to keep gaining meaningful experiences and to keep learning from them. With the supportive school and people around me, I am more than sure that I will achieve all these goals.
