Junior Year
My Junior Year was filled with many good and bad experiences that I learned so much from. I have never experienced so much growth and healing in a year.
To start off the year, I switched companies and accepted a co-op offer at a pharmaceutical company called Teva Pharmaceuticals. I previously worked at a plastics manufacturing company for three semesters so this was a big change. I was surprised how much I liked it! I worked in the Cincinnati site which manufactured women’s health drugs such as birth control, which is something I am very passionate about. Teva trusted me a lot and gave me a lot of responsibility. I was very busy and productive everyday. I felt like I was truly a part of the team. It was a great experience, and I accomplished a lot in a semester!
For the spring semester, I decided to start a new journey in Sydney, Australia for a study abroad experience at the University of Sydney! It was truly a dream to live in such a beautiful city! I lived with seven other girls that I got a long with, and we all had so much fun together! I never felt like I was alone there. We travelled together, ate together, watched movies together and more! Our living room was often turned into a Karaoke or ‘Just Dance’ room! Although my study abroad was cut short due to the COVID-19 situation, I would never have traded this experience for anything, as I would not have met these amazing people!
Another important aspect of my Junior Year was Therapy and Healing. This past year was the first time that I ever went to Therapy, and I never turned back. I have learned so much about self-awareness and emotional maturity. I learned about how to set my own boundaries, how I alone get to decide what I accept from others, and how the most important relationship I will ever have as one with myself. Mental Health became one of my biggest passions in my life such that I started my own instagram account to share my healing journey.
I have recently also published a book back home (in Indonesia) to share resources to Indonesian children how they can study abroad and find affordable ways to do so. It is called “How to get 7 Scholarships in 7 Countries”, and it was published last February! During the book tour to promote the book, not only did I motivate others to aim high and fight for their dreams, but I also shared how important it is to take care of yourself and your mental health. During my interactions with others in my book tours, I have come to realize this is my passion and this is what I want to do with my life. I would like to continue sharing inspiration and useful information.
After completing my Junior Year with so much self-growth, I look forward to my senior year and finishing off my college career with more growth. I am sure I will experience more ups and downs, but I have gained tools and resources that will be able to help me through anything.
