About Me
Hello, my name is Ilma Alfadila, and I am a fifth-year Chemical Engineering major at the University of Cincinnati. I am an international student from Jakarta, Indonesia. Throughout my life, I have lived in five countries (Singapore, China, Indonesia, Thailand, and USA). Since my family moves around a lot, I don't have a hometown, so I consider my home wherever my family is. I decided to come to America because I wanted to experience a completely different culture and environment, as well as a holistic education. My family consists of myself, my mother, my father, my little sister, and my little brother. I feel very fortunate to have the family that I have. They are very supportive, inspiring, and loving.
One of my biggest interests is travelling. Having lived in 5 countries and travelled to 13 countries, I developed an appreciation of diversity in our world. I find it very interesting to learn about and experience different cultures, I also believe that each culture is great in their own way, and there is always something good to learn from every culture. One of my life goals is to travel to 50 countries. My other interests include adrenaline-pumping activities. I have gone hang-gliding, parasailing, white-water rafting, zip-lining, caving, go-karting, off-roading, and I would love to try more activities that gets my heart racing!
My values that are most important to me are Family, Happiness, and Achievement. Being an Achiever is also one of my strengths. I am always very determined to achieve what I want. I love being active and productive. My achievements give me self-confidence and happiness, which is also another value that I prioritise. I define success as being truly happy with what you have and where you are in life now. Happiness is what enables me to put a smile on my face on even the darkest days. It helps me believe that everything is going to turn out right in the end. It enables me to take advantage of every opportunity and moment in life. Happiness helps me stay mentally, emotionally, and physically strong. Other than happiness and achievement, family is a value that I prioritise. The love of a family is life's greatest blessing. My family is my pillar of strength, and I would not have come as far as I have without them. No matter what my family goes through, we are always there for each other.
In my time in college, I hope to explore my interests, passions, strengths, and values. I know that I will gain valuable experiences that will shape who I am as a person. I look forward to learning more about myself, developing relationships and trying new things.
