Gateway to University Honors
Mini Experience Showcase
I chose the ‘Travelling’ interest group and my group went to Jungle Jim’s International Market. We tried food samples of food from different countries such as Japan, India and Mexico. We also explored every aisle and learned what food each country had. Not knowing about a lot of the food in Jungle Jim’s made me grasp how big and diverse our world is. It was an amazing experience because it widened my mindset and opened my eyes to the real world. I will take this experience as a source of motivation for my desires and goals to travel in the future. Because of this trip to Jungle Jim’s, I am now more excited to actually travel around the world and try all this food myself. This experience has made me more prepared to travel because I now know more about the food from different countries. I got a sense of what kinds of food I would be expecting from the various countries.
Final Reflection
To me, being a global citizen scholar means helping other people and being a contributing member of society. It means putting time and effort into something you genuinely care about. It means taking advantage of your strengths to achieve your goals. It means using your voice and power for good reasons. It means giving off positive energy to other people. I plan on taking as many opportunities as I can in the University Honors Program, to learn more about myself, what I like, and what I am good at. My interests include exploring and being adventurous, so I look forward to pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying new things. I plan to contribute to campus by getting involved in student organisations, and taking up leadership positions to transform my vision and ideas into reality. I want to contribute to my community by helping out people whenever I can and as best as I can. I want to emit positive vibes to my community by smiling often, genuinely caring about what others have to say, saying positive words, and encouraging others.
